Dera Ismail Khan (IP) - An improvised explosive device (IED) targeted a security forces vehicle on polio duty in Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, injuring five soldiers.

Iran Press/Asia: In Tehsil Daraban, a security forces vehicle on polio duty was hit by an explosive device planted on the roadside in the Zarqani area. The blast injured five security personnel, who were promptly taken to the district hospital.

In Pakistan, security personnel assigned to protect polio teams have often been targeted by religious extremists who view polio vaccinations as un-Islamic. Following these attacks, the government deploys police, Frontier Corps (FC), and other forces to safeguard the medical teams during vaccination campaigns. Despite these measures, both polio teams and their guards have repeatedly come under attack by extremist elements.
