Iran Press/ Asia: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in a recent letter to UN Secretary-General António Guterres and French Ambassador to the United Nations Nicolas de Rivière and the interim chairman of the Security Council noting "China demands that all provisions of Security Council Resolution 2231, including the part related to arms embargos, must be carefully implemented."
Pointing that the United States has unilaterally withdrawn from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and resumed unilateral and illegal sanctions against Iran, in violation of Security Council Resolution 2231.
The Chinese Foreign Minister called on the US to abstain from unilateral sanctions and invasive management that have no basis in international law, and return to the right path, namely following the JCPOA and UN Security Council resolution, in addition, together with other parties, the US must try to maintain the international system of non-proliferation of nuclear weapons and peace and stability.
Wang Yi added that the United States was no longer part of the JCPOA with the withdrawal from the agreement and did not have the right to ask the Security Council to activate the snapback mechanism for "quick resumption of sanctions."
