Iran Press/Asia: The bomb that was detonated by the Americans on the last days of the World War II over the Japanese city of Hiroshima amounted to 16000 tons of TNT and the hellish heat of it melted and vaporized every living creatures and buildings within 1.5 kilometers. Two-thirds of the city's buildings were destroyed.
The death toll of the Hiroshima bombing was unimaginable. Due to the evaporation of human beings, the exact number of casualties was never specified. But it is estimated that between 100 to 150,000 people were burned alive in a blink of an eye. The extent of the casualties, the disabled and those who died years after being exposed to atomic radiation remains unclear.
The US repeated the heinous crime of Hiroshima's bombing in Nagasaki just three days later, killing about 100,000 more.
Now 74 years after the horrible atomic bombings in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, once again the scary ghost of nuclear warfare among the superpowers with the recent decisions of Donald Trump's administration has come to the fore.
Washington's move to abandon the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty and the possibility of its departure from the "New START" strategic treaty, could put the world in a position where the disasters of Hiroshima and Nagasaki are nothing compared to it. 104/208
