Iranian government spokesman Ali Rabiei has emphasised that Iran, Turkey, and Russia are three influential countries within the region and they can help bring peace to Syria.

Iran Press/Iran news: Speaking at his weekly press conference in Tehran on Monday, Ali Rabiei said: "Thanks to US sanctions, Iran's relations with neighbouring and regional countries are very important and sensitive for Tehran and because of US sanctions, relations between Iran and neighbouring countries are stronger than ever before."

Commenting briefly on President Rouhani's upcoming trip to United Nations General Assembly in New York, Rabiei said we believe President Rouhani's trip will further highlight the righteousness of the Iranian nation, and the fact that the Islamic Republic of Iran abides by international laws, and honours its commitments. Rabiei also dismissed any suggestion of a New York meeting between president Hassan Rouhani and US president Donald Trump.

Rabiei poignantly added: "There is no chance for such a meeting as long as the US continues with its current policies of sanctions, and disrespecting the Iranian nation. President Rouhani will meet with world leader and heads of state on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly meeting in News York."

Commenting further the government spokesman said: "From our point of view all the US sanctions must be lifted first, and the US administration must respect Iranians and the legitimate rights of the Iranian nation, and United States must return to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), and only then can there be any meaningful negotiations between Tehran and Washington, as there was in the run-up to the signing of the landmark nuclear deal, when we negotiated with the 5+1 Group, which included the United States of course. Tehran-Washington talks, if they take place at all, will be within the framework of the 5+1 Group."

Commenting on women's presence in sports stadiums, government spokesman Ali Rabiei said definitely women will be present in the sport stadium at the upcoming football match between Iranian and Cambodian national football teams, which is part of the FIFA World Cup Asian Qualifying match which will be held on 10 October 2019.

Rabiei also commented on Presient Rouhani's call for a high turnout in the upcoming elections in Iran, saying Iran's enemies want a low participation in the elections, but Iran's authority emanates from its people, and as always, we want maximum participation by the electorate, and this will be a slap in the face for the enemies. Rabiei also wished for enthusiastic participation of the public in the upcoming elections, saying the turnout will hopefully be "very high".
