Seyyed Abbas Mousavi

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman in his Monday's press conference said the US secretary of state's request to have an interview with Iranian media is simply propaganda.

Iran Press/Iran news:  Seyyed Abbas Mousavi answering a question on US secretary of state Mike Pompeo's suggestion  to have an interview with Iranian media said: Iranian foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif's trip to New York and his interviews with international media was a successful and absorbing news event.

He added: US secretary of state Mike Pompeo's aim from this suggestion was a psychological operation and a response to Iranian foreign minister Zarif's dialogue with US public opinion.

Earlier on 26 June, US secretary of state Mike Pompeo had said in an interview with Bloomberg TV  that he would like to go to Iran for talks, amid tensions between Tehran and Washington.

Pompeo also said that as Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif talks to the media in New York, he also wants to get in touch with the media in Tehran.

The Head of the IRIB's Press TV, Peyman Jebelli suggested on Sunday that the Iranian English language TV channel had no plans for an interview with US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo.
