Tehran (IP) - Mazandaran Governor said that many provinces specially Mazandaran has a serious problem with wastes, and the government wants to take charges from imported and manufactured pollutants.

Iran Press/Iran News: "A session was held on Saturday, in which bylaws were passed, and Iranian government is now required to levy a tax on pollutant manufacturers and importers of such products and we discussed expediting the implementation of bylaws," Mazandaran Governor Ahmad Husseinzadegan said on the sidelines of a meeting on turning waste into chemicals and energy with the attendance of Iran's Interior Minister, Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli, and the governors of northern provinces of the country.

"Taxes were put on pollutant products imported and manufactured was something else," the governor highlighted.

"One more issue which has been discussed was, the economized waste management projects via knowledge-based and startups companies," Husseinzadegan said.

"In some provinces, we have no serious problem with waste but in Mazandaran, that is a very serious problem which is our priority and we must solve it," he noted.

"The government had set aside a budget for wastewater management but its implementation was delayed and halted. The Interior Minister also has addressed this issue, Husseinzadegan added.
