Deputy Minister of Industry, Mining and Trade said Iran was among seven precious metal producing countries in the world.

Iran Press/Iran news: Speaking at the conference on the creation of the Gold Industrial Estate on Thursday, Farshad Moghimi said, "Iran plans to establish a specialized zone for the industry, providing a platform for developing small workshops and precious metals industrial cluster."

emphasized the importance of the industry in boosting the country's currency.

"Establishment of the Gold Industrial Estate will help develop the Art-Industry," he said, noting that efforts are underway to solve the problems faced by the producers.

According to the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs, Iran hosts about seven percent of the world’s mineral resource, including ten percent of proven oil and 16 percent of natural gas reserves. The nation’s total gold deposits are estimated at 320 tons. Iran has also massive zinc, copper and iron deposits.

Iran has the world’s biggest zinc reserves, second largest copper reserves, and ninth largest iron reserves.

Iran is also rich in zinc and lead, with over 220 million tons of proven reserves. Production remains below 200,000 tons for zinc and lead, with just under half exported.
