Mohammad Javad Zarif (R) and Tehran mayor Pirouz Hanachi (L)

The Iranian foreign minister has said it was the greatest honour for him to defend the rights of the Iranian people and to be sanctioned by the United States for exactly that.

Iran Press/Iran news: Speaking at Soroush Mowlana Charity concert on Friday night, Mohammad Javad Zarif said the Iranian people deserve the best and he is determined to do his best to secure the rights of this great nation.

All the proceeds from this charity event will go to Iranian flood victims, and Tehran's mayor Pirouz Hanachi, also attended the concert.

Iranian foreign minister Zarif emphasized his determination to continue this path despite the US sanctions, Iran Press reported.

In the latest effort by Washington to ratchet up its 'maximum pressure' campaign against Tehran, the US has imposed sanctions on Mohammad Javad Zarif, Iran’s foreign minister.

The unprecedented move came as according to a new report, Washington had invited Iran’s foreign minister to meet US president during a trip to New York to attend UN meetings.
According to the New Yorker, Mohammad Javad Zarif, received an unexpected invitation to meet US President Donald Trump in the Oval Office.

The diplomatic overture was made by Senator Rand Paul, the Kentucky Republican, during a meeting with Zarif in New York on July 15th, according to American and Iranian sources and a well-informed diplomat. 101/211
