Iran Press/ Asia: The fourth meeting of the Regional Security Dialogue with the participation of Iran, Russia, India, China, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, hosted by Tajikistan, began in the Tajik capital city of Dushanbe.
Welcoming the senior officials attending the inaugural meeting, Nasrullo Mahmudzoda, Secretary of the National Security Council of Tajikistan, said: "The political, social, security and economic situation in Afghanistan is deteriorating and the development of terrorism, extremism and drug trafficking as a public threat has caused great concern to the neighbors of this country and other countries in the region."
Emphasizing the common responsibility of all countries in the region to help create an inclusive government in the presence of representatives of different ethnicities, religions and political groups in Afghanistan, he added: "Establishing a security belt around the country and the international effort to provide humanitarian assistance to the people of Afghanistan is one of the most important priorities that this meeting can significantly contribute to achieving."
Following the fourth meeting of the Regional Security Dialogue, the senior national security officials of the countries present at the meeting expressed their views on the situation in Afghanistan and the mechanisms that should be adopted to get the country out of the current instability.
Issues such as the need to form an inclusive government, the responsibility of the Taliban as the current ruler to prevent the activities of terrorist groups that threaten the security of Afghanistan's neighboring countries, to counter drug trafficking and provide immediate humanitarian assistance to the people of this country are emphasized by all participants in the meeting.
The second part of the Regional Security Dialogue meeting continued behind closed doors and without media representatives in attendance.
At the end of the meeting, a final statement will be issued containing the common views of the countries present at the summit.
