Tehran (IP) - The spokesman for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that proposing the draft resolution on the human rights situation in the Islamic Republic of Iran by Canada and the support of some Western countries lacked legal validity and was fundamentally rejected.

Iran PressIran News: In response to Canada's so-called resolution on the human rights situation in the Islamic Republic of Iran, Saeed Khatibzadeh said in the UN Third Assembly Committee on Thursday: "Based on weak and scattered votes, the resolution is the result of various political pressures and threats."

Referring to the addiction of Canada and other main founders of the resolution to the continuation of failed "defamation" project on Iran, Khatibzadeh said: "Unfortunately, some countries have a long history of gross human rights abuses, including through the sale of weapons to authoritarian regimes as well as occupiers and aggressors; they have used human rights as a tool to advance their political ambitions and intentions."

Describing supporters of the anti-Iran resolution as "significant", the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman called Canada's move to bring together "a group of governments with bad and poor human rights record", including the Zionist regime, the United States and Britain to teach human rights to the Iranian people a disgrace.

Iran's top diplomat noted: "Immoral and unjustified movements do not help to promote the human rights situation and respect for it globally, and they also fuel negative stereotypes and political labeling against nations."

Describing the supporters of the anti-Iran resolution as "significant", the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman asked the Canadian authorities to be held accountable for the Zionist Regime's complicity in committing the inhuman crimes against the Palestinian people by stopping the systematic policy of this regime in the genocide of the natives of Palestine.

Earlier on Wednesday night, Deputy Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations Zahra Ershadi, in a speech in response to Canada's draft human rights resolution against Iran, said:

"This biased and unconstructive resolution that is going to be voted in the third committee is a dishonest and indefensible political move and reflects the hostile and deliberate policy of inciting others to Iranophobia."

Ershadi pointed out: "Examining the list of main supporters of the draft resolution, such as Canada, the United States, the child-killing regime of Israel and some Western countries, reveals the fact that the main supporters of racism, occupation and those who committed heinous killings of indigenous people have gathered to preach human rights to others."

Iran's ambassador and deputy permanent representative to the United Nations added: "Most member states have repeatedly rejected the use of human rights as a tool to achieve political goals and stressed the need to promote and protect human rights in all countries through dialogue, interaction and constructive cooperation."
