Iran Press/ Asia: The championship, which began on October 24 in Daqing, China, concluded today, October 29, with the final matches. The representatives of Iran were the Isfahan Khroushan team in the women's category and the Naval Militia team in the men's category.
The Isfahan Khroushan team, consisting of athletes Melika Borun, Setayesh Pirnajmaldin, Mahdieh Shabani, Shiva Lakzaei, Atousa Islami, Anahita Mahtarpour, Fatemeh Jalilian, and Elham Pourabadian as the athlete coach, participated under the technical management of Nima Hajati and the supervision of Seyed Eiman Shafi'Af.
The Naval Militia team included Amir Hossein Zamani, Amir Mohammad Fattahpour, Mohammad Saleh Soltani, Mohammad Ali Malaei, Reza Beigi, Ramin Ghyasvand, Shayegan Khairullahi, and Mohammad Reza Jamshidian, coached by Mehregan Khairullahi and Anush Abbasi.
On the final day of the competition, Iran's representatives faced off against their rivals. In their last match of the second round in Group P, Isfahan Khroushan faced Singapore and won 3-2 with goals from Fatemeh Jalilian, Atousa Islami, and Elham Pourabadian. This victory allowed them to qualify for the semifinals as the second team in Group P, marking the first time in the history of Iranian canoe polo that they reached this stage and secured a spot in the World Games.
In the semifinals, they faced the leading team from Group O, New Zealand, and were ultimately stopped with a score of 7-2 against the strong contender for the championship. Elham Pourabadian and Fatemeh Jalilian scored for Iran in this match.
In the classification match, they went up against the Netherlands and were defeated 2-1 with a golden goal from the formidable team. With this result, the Iranian women made history by achieving the fourth place in the world for the first time.
The Naval Militia team, representing the men of Iran, played against South Africa in their third-stage match and won 7-2. They then faced Australia in their final match and defeated them 7-4, finishing in fifteenth place in the tournament.
