Referring to recent victories in Daraa, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, on Sunday asserted “these victories demonstrate the iron will of Syrian army and the allied countries in eradicating terrorism and liberating the whole Syrian territory from terrorists."
The Syrian president made the remarks while meeting with Hossein Jaberi Ansari, the senior assistant to the Iranian foreign minister, in Damascus. Jaberi Ansari met with President Assad immediately after arriving in Syrian capital city of Damascus.
“Cracking down on terrorism all across Syria has paved the ground for reaching better political solutions which could help end the war,” he said.
“What is impeding the end of war in Syria is the host of pre-conditions set by pro-terrorists countries,” said Assad.
Jaberi Ansari, for his part, extended congratulations to Syrian president and government over the recent victories of Syrian army and armed forces .He is to visit Lebanon on Monday to convey message of President Hassan Rouhani.
During his one day visit in Beirut, Jaberi Ansari is to submit message of President Hassan Rouhani to his Lebanese counterpart Michel Aoun.
A senior diplomat in Iran's embassy in Beirut said that Jaberi visit to Lebanon is in the framework of the recent visits of Iranian diplomats and characters to different countries on the issue of Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and its related developments.
Aide to the supreme leader for international affairs Ali Akbar Velayati recently visited Moscow and Beijing.
Deputy Foreign Minister for political affairs Abbas Araqchi is to travel to India on Monday.
According to the embassy, Rouhani in his message explained Iran's approaches and actions concerning JCPOA, especially following the US disloyalty in exiting from the deal.
Lebanon has close relations with Iran and is among critics of the US exit from nuclear deal.
Jaberi Ansari is to hold separate meetings with Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, Prime Minister commissioned to form government Saad al-Hariri and Foreign Minister Gibran Bassil.
