Iran’s Aliasghar Hasanzadeh was named AFC Futsal Player of the Year, winning the prestigious honor for the fourth time.

Iran news/  "I am very pleased with this award. This will give me more power, more desire to do even better next year. This reminds me that I cannot stop, I must continue to give my best every time I enter the court," said Hasanzadeh.

Hasanzadeh 31, also won the award in 2014, 2016 and 2017, surpassing compatriot Vahid Shamsaei who won the accolade in 2007, 2008 and 2015.

In 2018, Hasanzadeh was Iran’s Most Valuable Player, contributing 12 goals to steer them to the AFC Futsal Championship title in Chinese Taipei, Iran Press reported.

In continental club competition, Hasanzadeh proved why he is the best when he guided Mes Sungun of Iran to its maiden AFC Club Futsal Championship in Yogyakarta.

Earlier on May 12, Iran claimed a historic second successive win at the Asian Football Confederation Women's Futsal Championships by defeating Japan 5-2.

President Hassan Rouhani congratulated the Iranian women's national futsal team on their valuable victory through a message, saying the fact that they won the Asian championship is another indication of the Iranian women’s capabilities, dynamism and merit. 203/103
