The foreign ministry spokesman, Bahram Ghasemi, has said the main goal of the Tehran summit is to find a fundamental political solution to the crisis in Syria. The trilateral Tehran summit will be held on Friday, 7 September 2018.

Iran Press/Iran News: Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman in a note on "Iran" newspaper on Thursday said the summit of Iran, Turkey and Russia in Tehran is a good opportunity for coordination and convergence on bilateral and multilateral issues for regional and international challenges.

He added that strategic cooperation between Iran, Russia and Turkey over the past three years has played a decisive role in the fight against terrorism, especially in countering the ISIL Takfiri terrorist group, in creating areas free of conflict and returning displaced Syrians to their homes.

Ghasemi also pointed to the irrational and supranational ambitions of the United States and said: Iran, Turkey and Russia have been subjected to various US sanctions because of rejecting US desires, Tehran summit could bring harmony and convergence between the three countries to deal with outrageous sanctions and unfair threats of US.

Iran Foreign Ministry spokesman said Iran, Russia and Turkey face similar challenges and common threats from unreasonable powers, and undoubtedly the continuation of bilateral, and multilateral cooperation has become a necessity.

Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in Aug. 30 that consequences of the West’s potential aggression against Syria will be inevitable and this will deal a heavy blow both to the settlement and global stability.

In April 2017, thousands of Kefraya and al-Foua residents were bussed out to government-held areas in a swap that granted, in exchange, safe passage to hundreds of people living in two militant-held towns near Damascus, Madaya and Zabadani.

About 1.2 million Syrian refugees have returned to their homes since September 2015.

Also, Iranian foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif stressed talks with Syrian officials is necessary ahead of Trilateral meeting on Syria to be held in Tehran on 7  September.

Referring to a meeting which will be held by presidents of IranRussia and Turkey to discuss SyriaMohamad Javad Zarif  added next  Friday, the trio will discuss how to deal with the extremists and terrorists, including the al-Nusra Front.

"After the victory of Resistance Front against extremist and terrorist groups; it is high time that Syria was reconstructed" Zarif said upon arrival at Damascus International Airport.

Syria is purging terrorists from the country and the remaining terrorists, including Tahrir al-Sham (Al-Nusra Front) should leave Idlib,added  Zarif.

According to Zarif, dealing with the humane affairs and return of refugees has already started and the neighboring countries have an important role to this end.

More than 330,000 people have been killed in Syria and millions have been driven from their homes since the conflict began in March 2011, and the infrastructure of the country destroyed.
