Iran's deputy minister of the Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism said that the number of foreign tourists who have visited Iran has increased by 40 percent compared to the same period last year.

Iran Press/Iran news: Deputy minister of the Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism of Iran, Vali Teymouri said on Thursday that around 3 million tourists visited Iran during the first four months of this year (started March 21) which indicates a 40 percents rise compared to the corresponding period last year.

He added: "Last year, 7.8 million tourists visited Iran's tourist attractions, compared to the year before, the number grew by 52 percents", Iran Press reported.

"More than 80 percents of foreign tourists come to Iran with cultural and religious priorities", Teymouri stressed.

He also added that most tourists enter Iran through Ilam, Kermanshah, Lorestan and Hamedan provinces.
