India has called off cease fire and resumed its operations in the region.

New Delhi has called off  a one -month cease Fire  in the Indian controlled Kashmir asking its forces to resume its military  operations in the disputed region. The unilateral  cease fire was announced on May 16,2018 in a bid to help Muslims observe the  holy month of Ramadan  in a peaceful atmosphere .The New Delhi  deicision  came after the region veteran journalist  Journalist Shujaat Bukhari shot dead by terrorists in Press Colony in Srinagar city. 

While India blamed Pro independence fighters for the  attack  ,Pakistan's United  Jihad Council accused Indian agencies  of murdering Journalists .

Some says Bukhari's murder  prompted India to decide against extending Ramadhan cease fire However,the decision  has not gone done well  with the region's political parties .

Tensions have risen up in Srinagar in the recent weeks After Police was accused of using tear gas and two protesters have died after being crashed by paramilitary vehicles.
