Iran Press/ Iran news: Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said today (Tuesday) in a public session of the parliament: "The duty and goal of foreign policy are to prevent the policies of the United States, rivals and others; The foreign policy tools are also clear."
Regarding these tools, he added: "Foreign policy relies on national tools, but the tools at the disposal of the foreign minister are interviews, negotiations and coalition building, and we have nothing else but these tools."
Zarif said: "Today is the last day of Donald Trump's infamous presidency in the United States, and with the same tools and with the help of the Iranian people, we have been able to defeat the US policy of maximum pressure, which of course was due to the resistance of the great Iranian nation."
Zarif questioned over negotiation with assassinator of Lt. Gen. Soleimani
In response to a parliament's question regarding negotiation with the US one week after the assassination of Lt. Gen. Qasem Soleiman, Mohammad Javad Zarif said that the Iranian nation's resistance along with diplomacy led to the defeat of Trump in foreign policy.
He stressed that all mass communication media acknowledge that the US's maximum pressure policy failed due to the people's resistance and diplomacy.
Concerning his meeting with an Israeli Zionist element one week before the assassination of Lt. Gen. Qasem Solemani, which the foreign ministry denied the meeting at that time, Zarif said that the meeting referred to one year and a half before the assassination, and was about the extradition of Dr. Soleimani who was jailed in the US.
In the end, the lawmakers did not get content with the foreign minister's explanations over the meeting, and therefore, he received a yellow card.
The minister also receives another yellow card over his explanations failed about the weak economic diplomacy of the Foreign Ministry.
