Iran news: According to an Iran Press report, Iranian foreign minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif held talks with Pakistan’s Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Jawed Bajwa and Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi to discuss border guard issue.

He also held talks with the Pakistani side on bilateral relations and the most important regional and international events.
During the meeting, the officials exchanged views on regional security, matters of mutual interest, join cooperation on providing security to share borders, accelerating efforts and measures to recover the abducted border guards and arrest the elements behind the terrorist incident, cooperation toward peace and security in the region especially in Yemen and Afghanistan.
On 31 October, Iranian foreign minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif has said, "Pakistan is using all means at its disposal, to secure the release of the abducted border guards."
Pointing out his meeting with Pakistani officials, Mohammad Javad Zarif expressed hope that the efforts to liberate Iranian abducted border guards can be fruitful.
Pakistani officials have promised to free Iranian border gurads.
On October 22, Commander of the Ground Forces of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour said Pakistani officials have promised to make every effort and adopt necessary measures to free Iranian border guards after his travel to Pakistan.

On October 16, Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Ground Force Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour said Iran is ready for joint operations with the Pakistani army to secure the release of border guards who have been kidnapped on the Iranian side of the border with Pakistan.

Pakistani officials have promised to to make every effort and adopt necessary measures to free Iranian border guards, but it is obvious that Pakistan should do more actions to reinforce security in common borders with Iran, as frequently attacked by terrorist groups coming from Pakistan will put all the region in danger.
The Iranian military forces along the southeastern border areas are frequently attacked by terrorist groups coming from Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Tehran has frequently asked the two neighbouring countries to step up security at the common border to prevent terrorist attacks on Iranian forces.
In October 16, the IRGC has confirmed that 14 Baseej (volunteers) and border guards were kidnapped by a terrorist group on Tuesday morning. The incident happened about 50 kilometers from the town of MirJaveh in Balouchestan of southeastern Iran, very close to the border with Pakistan.
