  • Iran and Pakistan call for enhancing cooperation

Iran’s Foreign Minister met with Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday for talks on political and economic issues.

اخبار ایران / آسیا:  محمد جواد ظریف ، که در روز چهارشنبه صبح به اسلام آباد وارد شده، در جریان نشست با رهبر پاکستان، مسئله ربودن تعدادی از نگهبانان مرزی ایران توسط گروه تروریستی مستقر در پاکستان را مطرح کرد. وی همچنین در مورد برنامه های مبارزه با ناامنی در سراسر مرز مشترك ایران و پاکستان و رویکردهایی كه در مذاكرات خود با مقامات سیاسی و نظامی ارشد پاكستان مطرح شد، خبر داد.

دیپلمات ارشد ایران و امران خان همچنین قصد داشتند همکاری و تعامل انرژی را برای حل و فصل اختلافات منطقه ای، از جمله در یمن و افغانستان، افزایش دهند.

In a separate meeting, Zarif held talks with Chief of Staff of the Pakistani Army, General Qamar Javed Bajwa, discussing ways to ensure security along the common border, accelerate efforts to secure the release of the kidnapped Iranian border guards, promote cooperation for regional peace and security, and resolve the conflicts in Yemen and Afghanistan.

Also in a meeting with Pakistan's foreign minister, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Zarif agreed to continue close consultations through the established multipronged mechanism between the two countries for safe return of abducted Iranian border guards.

Zarif and Qureshi had earlier spoken over the phone regarding the matter immediately after the incident. During the conversation on that occasion, he had requested the Pakistani government to enhance security along the border by increasing troops deployment and other measures.

The Iranian foreign minister had also urged the Pakistani authorities to act swiftly to recover the hostages and arrest those behind the terrorist incident in accordance with “the previous understandings” between the two countries.101/202
