Iran Press/ Iran news: The 10th session of the Supreme Council for the Development of Non-Oil Exports was held this afternoon (Monday), chaired by Iran's First Vice-President Es'haq Jahangiri.
At the beginning of the meeting, referring to the fire incident at the Islam Qala border terminal, Jahangiri said: "Afghanistan and Iraq are among the largest target markets for Iran's exports, with the largest volume of Iran's exports to these countries, and we must use all the necessary facilities to organize and re-equip this border to continue the process of foreign trade between the two countries."
He said: "Land borders are the most important route of export and import to the country, especially during the sanctions, and it is necessary to interact and cooperate with Afghanistan to address the damage caused by this incident and reopen the Dougharoon border as soon as possible."
Stressing the use of the good capacity created by the agreement of Eurasian countries to increase foreign trade, Jahangiri stated: "One of the most important capacities of the country is the discussion of multilateral agreements such as Eurasia, ECO, D8, etc. which should be used to increase exports."
The first vice president went on to say: "Protecting transportation corridors is an important issue for Iran. The country's conditions demand that we protect our statuses, such as the geographical location and the issue of the country's transit. Certainly, this capacity is one of the main components of Iran's authority, and these corridors must be completed quickly for road, rail, and sea transport."
He said: "These transit corridors should be so active and developing in the field of world trade that everyone feels that Iran's route is the safest and most economical route for world trade."
