Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has ordered a 10-day suspension of the social media platform X (Former Twitter), previously known as Twitter. The decision, announced on Friday, comes amid ongoing disputes over the country’s recent election results.

Iran PressAmerica:  Maduro accused Elon Musk, the owner of X, of using the platform to interfere with the election and destabilize Venezuela.

He alleged that Musk was part of a broader effort, supported by the United States and global Zionist interests, to overthrow his government.

“The Venezuelan telecommunications authority will block X for 10 days to protect the country from these destabilizing efforts,” Maduro said.

He described Musk as the “main enemy” of Venezuela, accusing him of leading a disinformation campaign through social media.

Venezuelan Foreign Minister Iván Gil also criticized Musk, claiming that the billionaire’s influence had fueled opposition protests by spreading false information about the situation in the country.

The election, held on July 28th, has been disputed by the opposition, which claims the results were fraudulent. Despite these allegations, Venezuela’s National Electoral Council declared Maduro the winner with 52% of the vote. The opposition has refused to recognize the official results.
