Iran Press/Iran: Riza Hakan Tekin added,We will do our best to prevent Tehran-Ankara relations from being affected by the US sanctions against Iran and our country doesn’t have to act in compliance with US’ unilateral decisions on Iran”.
In an interview with Anadolu Agency, He said,“Turkey imports half of its needed crude oil from Iran and it is impossible to meet the U.S. demand on stopping purchasing Iran’s oil”.
He also said,Turkey complies with sanctions that are in line with the international laws. Our country has always adhered to this criterion, but unilateral sanctions that are against the stance of the international community are not legitimate and binding”.
This is while,On May 8, US President Donald Trump pulled out of the 2015 multinational deal under which sanctions on Iran were lifted in return for curbs on its nuclear program verified by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
Trump said he would reimpose sanctions – after a 90-day grace period for firms to wind down their activities – that had been lifted when the deal was agreed in 2015.
Washington has since told countries they must stop buying the OPEC producer's oil from November 4 or face financial consequences.

President Rouhani's warnings to his American counterpart, Donald Trump, live on Iranian television , have been the focus of mainstream media attention around the world.
Hassan Rouhani answered a question about the United States’ stances towards Iran, including their suggestions for negotiation, saying: “US officials make contradictory remarks”.
Stating that Iranians are aware of US officials’ and their own officials’ behaviour regarding negotiations, he said: “Those who are in office in Iran today have been working with the motto of interaction, negotiation and the negotiation table since the start and they have even negotiated with Americans and others”.
“We negotiated for two years and reached an agreement that the Americans were more or less living up to; others were committed to it, and Iran completely lived up to its commitments,” added the President.
Rouhani also went on to say: “If somebody puts a knife in its opponent or enemy’s arm and says we want to negotiate; the answer is that they must first pull out the knife and then come to the negotiation table”.
He added: “I believe that their want to wage a psychological war and create scepticism in the Iranian people to be able to use it in the coming Congress elections. So, Trump’s remarks are aimed at taking advantage of them in Congress elections”.
