Iran (IP) - The Iranian Grand Marja condemned the French magazine's insult to Islamic values.

Iran PressIran News: The French magazine recently held a cartoon contest in which it insulted the Leader of Iran's Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

In a message on Saturday, Ayatollah Hossein Nouri-Hamedani called on International Islamic organizations to pursue the case of Charlie Hebdo's desecration of Islamic values.

The message said: "Regrettably, the country [France] that advocates freedom and civilization, has committed the most shameless acts during the recent years, continuously insulting the pure beliefs of the nations, and has adopted the desecration of the Muslims' values."

He referred to France's previous desecration of the Holy Quran and insult to the Prophet of Islam, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), and the recent insult to the Shia Marja's as an Israeli-masterminded plot against the Muslims, noting that such measures would not work but rather awaken the nations to stand against the world's arrogant powers.
