Tehran (IP) – Following the implementation of the nationwide vaccination project against the COVID-19, the greatest ever 24-hour COVID-19 vaccination center opened east of Tehran on Thursday.

Iran PressIran news: The opening ceremony was held in the presence of Head of Tehran's Task Force for Fighting Coronavirus Alireza Zali and Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Ground Force's Medical Unit Brigadier General Ahmad Akhavan.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of Tehran's biggest vaccination center, Zali highlighted that the center could inject 3,500 jabs daily, which might increase to 10,000.

"Importing vaccines to Iran has accelerated and facilitated nationwide vaccination," he noted.

He announced the number of collaborative and non-collaborative vaccination centers as 210, aiming to avoid crowds and gatherings. 

"Tehran needs to set up more than 95 vaccination centers, though most of the earlier established centers are active round the clock," he added.

"As of yesterday evening, 6,825,000 individuals had received first dose, and 2,930,000 others received the second dose of the vaccine," he pointed.

As the next keynote speaker, Brig Gen Akhavan stated that the IRGC Ground Force had put all its facilities into practice to fight the COVID-19, adding that more than 20,000 doses have been distributed among the IRGC ground force's vaccination centers to vaccinate people.

He noted that 16 IRGC ground force's vaccination centers are active across the country, adding: "Next week the IRGC's fourth vaccination center will be set up in Tehran."

Underlining IRGC's readiness to offer services to all, he added that 24 mobile hospitals across the country are active in treating and vaccinate people.
