Bosnia and Herzegovina (IP) - Holy Ramadan month began in Sarajevo and other cities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in a spiritually passionate atmosphere.

Iran Press/Europe: Bosnian mosques host Muslims fasting, performing congregational prayers, and reciting the Holy Quran as the programs presented add to the spirit of Ramadan month.

Every day, evenings, the Quran is recited after evening prayers in the mosques.

Still, according to the old tradition, the time of Iftar (breaking the fast) is announced with the sound Azan (public proclamation for prayer) from the highest point in Sarajevo accompanied by the sound of firing a cannonball.

The Bosnian families, before Iftar, get busy preparing the Iftar banquet, of which Somun is an indispensable part; a kind of bread with black seeds and a desired aroma.

Ramadan is the month of kindness and happiness for the Muslims of the Balkan region, especially the Muslims of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
