Tehran (IP)- Iran's government spokesman said on Tuesday that the Afghan high-level officials' trip to Iran was on the right time to prevent those who target to poison Iran-Afghanistan deep ties.

Iran Press/Iran news: Responding Iran Press question on the significance and results of Afghanistan's acting Foreign Minister visit to Iran after the recent border incident and its exploitation by some parties in order to compromise the relations between the two countries, Ali Rabiei said: "Afghanistan's high-level officials trip to Iran was aimed at preventing those who are after poisoning and worsening Iran-Afghan ties."

Rabiei stressed that Iran has always played a key role in countering terrorism and helping improve Afghanistan's autonomy.

Iran's Government Spokesman explained further that since Iran-Afghanistan ties are old, both countries will safeguard it.

"Afghanistan is more than a neighbor to Iran," he continued. 

Rabiei added that Iran-Afghanistan Comprehensive Cooperation Document will be finalized in a matter of three months then it is going to be signed by Iran and Afghan presidents.

"Iran has always welcomed Afghan nationals," Rabiei pointed. 

Expressing regret over the recent incident in the border to Afghans, Rabiei said that Iran believes borders' safety and security lack enough supervision.

The spokesman reiterated that the smugglers and traffickers take advantage of the border, so to maintain and keep the borders secure more efforts should be made.

Having cultural and language in common, Iran and Afghanistan are trying to expand the relationship, the spokesman concluded.
