Iran Press/Europe: The agreement, which was signed by Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un in June after a summit in Pyongyang, stipulates that both sides will assist each other in the event of an armed attack.
Russia’s upper house ratified the treaty this week, while the lower house endorsed it last month. Putin signed a decree regarding that ratification, which was published on a government website outlining the legislative procedures on Saturday.
The treaty strengthens the relationship between Moscow and Pyongyang since Russia began its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
Reports from South Korea and Western countries indicate that North Korea has supplied weaponry to Russia. Ukrainian forensic experts have discovered traces of these weapons at sites attacked by Russian forces.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated on Thursday that North Korea has dispatched 11,000 troops to Russia, and some of these troops have sustained casualties in combat against Kyiv's forces in the southern Kursk region of Russia.
Russia has not verified the presence of North Korean troops.
