Iran Press/ Asia: A number of chief executive officers (CEOs) of big holdings and Turkish investors in Iran met with Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf on Thursday night on the sidelines of the meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states underway in Istanbul, Turkey.
At the beginning of the meeting, the CEOs of economic holdings and Turkish investors expressed their issues, problems and suggestions for the development of investments.
Then, the speaker of the Iranian Parliament stated that the problems raised in this meeting could be solved, saying: "In the administration and the Parliament, we have given priority to the development of relations with neighbours and Islamic countries, and this is a serious and strong will. We are determined to prioritize bilateral trade."
The high-ranking official stressed that bilateral trade should not be limited due to sanctions, and that the trade should continue until the sanctions are lifted. For several reasons, planning should continue so that even if sanctions are not lifted, bilateral trade will continue."
Ghalibaf pointed out: "There are now better grounds for the development of trade and economic relations, and especially the policies that will be included in the Seventh Development Plan will help in this regard."
Iran's Parliament speaker referred to the issues raised by Turkish investors and economic activists, adding: "The issues and problems that were raised should be followed up and resolved by the parliamentary friendship groups of the two countries."
He pointed out: "Studies show that there is a gap between the logistics hub and the financial hub in the trade relations between the two countries, and its absence is effective in causing these problems, and preparations must be made to create it."
The meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) with the central theme of "Palestine, Immigration and Afghanistan" has been underway on December 9 and 10 in Istanbul, hosted by the Turkish Parliament.
