Bandar Abbas (IP) - Iran's Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance has stressed that the Persian Gulf is the symbol of Iranian's national unity and national resistance.

Iran Press/Iran news: The minister of culture Seyyed Abbas Salehi added: "From ancient times to the era of Portuguese and British colonialism, and then to the sacred defense era, the Persian Gulf has always been the symbol of Iran's national resistance."

He made the remark on the sideline of the festival of National Day of the Persian Gulf in Bandar Abbas, Iran Press reported.

"The Persian Gulf is not just a place but it is the soul and spirit of Iranians," Seyyed Abbas Salehi added.

The fourth clothing exhibition has taken place in commemoration of the National Day of the Persian Gulf with the participation of the minister.

Since ancient times this body of water has been known as 'the Persian Gulf' or 'the Sea of Pars' or 'the Sea of Fars' in many different languages and by many different peoples.

30 April 2019 has been named as the National Day of the Persian Gulf.

In recent years, however, some regional Arab countries on the edge of the Persian Gulf, egged on by Western powers hostile towards Iran, have deliberately tried to change or distort the well-known name of this ancient body of water, going against all historical documents and records, and some might say have tried to 'rewrite history'.

This ill-judged and malicious effort is bound to fail, it will never pass the test of time, and the Persian Gulf will be known forever as the Persian Gulf, not just in Iran but throughout the world. 101/211/201
