A possible agreement between the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas and the Palestinian Authority (PA) would prove to be detrimental to "Israel", Israeli media outlets said.

Iran PressMiddle East: A high-level Hamas delegation, led by the head of the political bureau Ismail Haniyeh, Wednesday met with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas in the Turkish capital, Ankara, ahead of the planned meeting of the general secretaries of the Palestinian factions in Cairo.

The meeting involved frank and in-depth discussions as part of the movement's current efforts to ensure the success of the meeting to be held in Cairo by the general secretaries of the factions at the end of July.

The two parties agreed on the importance of pooling the national efforts to confront the dangers looming over the Palestinian cause, especially the Zionist regime's projects that seek to take over Palestinian land and expand illegal settlements.

The Hamas delegation also highlighted the importance of resistance as the most effective way to confront the Zionist occupation.

The Ankara meeting between Haniyeh and Abbas received substantial attention in the Zionist regime's high-profile media.

The Zionist regime Channel 13 said that Palestinian organizations in the north and the south are closely monitoring the division growing within Israeli society in parallel to internal Palestinian reconciliation taking place under the auspices of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The Arab affairs expert for Channel 13, Hazi Simantov, pointed out that the meeting in Ankara is saying that there is talk of a reconciliation agreement between Hamas and the PA, which may bring forward a new government that includes Hamas's support or participation.

Simantov added, "It is not certain that this agreement will be achieved, but Palestinian sources say that there is a common interest for both parties against Israel, and therefore if this agreement happens, it will be very bad for Israel."
