Iraqi Foreign Affairs Commission warns of US delay in withdrawing troops

The Iraqi parliament's foreign relations committee has warned that the United States is trying to delay the withdrawal of troops from Iraq by taking a three-year deadline.

Iran PressMiddle East: After his recent visit to the United States and meeting with US President, Mustafa al-Kazemi announced that Trump has stressed that US troops will be in Iraq for another three years.

Al-Fayez also added that Mustafa al-Kazemi's visit to the United States was not a success for Iraq.

Earlier, a number of Iraqi lawmakers and political figures reacted to the extension of the US military presence in their country, stressing that it was not within the prime minister's authority and that parliament would take a stand against it.

On January 5, 2020, the Iraqi parliament approved a plan on the withdrawal of US troops from the country.
