Middle East (IP) - The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation summoned the Iranian charge d'affaires, in Abu Dhabi on Sunday, after the Islamic Republic of Iran strongly condemned the UAE-Tel Aviv agreement to normalize relations.

Iran Press/Middle East: The UAE Foreign Ministry claimed that following the threats raised in the speech of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Hassan Rouhani on the sovereign decision of the UAE government and the threats made by the Iranian Foreign Ministry, the IRGC  and other Iranian officials repeatedly,  the UAE Deputy Foreign Minister conveyed a message of strong protest to the Iranian charge d'affaires.

The UAE Foreign Ministry added: "Relations between countries, treaties and accords are a matter of sovereignty."

The UAE Foreign Ministry has also said that Iran is responsible for supporting the UAE's diplomatic headquarters and diplomats in Tehran.

In a Twitter message last Thursday, US President Donald Trump announced what he called a "historic agreement" between Israel and the UAE to fully normalize bilateral relations.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also posted a message on social media calling the signing of the normalization agreement with the UAE "a historic step."

The leaders of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have made great efforts in recent years to reach out to the Zionists, and this process has accelerated with the coming to power of "Donald Trump" in the United States in 2015.

Riyadh and Abu Dhabi are seeking a relationship with the Zionist regime before the end of Trump's first term.

Observers, experts, and Muslim and Arab nations have slammed the UAE's agreement with Israel to secure Trump's and Netanyahu's electoral interests and described it to plunge a dagger into the heart of the Palestinian people.
