Some members of the Iraqi parliament reiterated the need for the US to leave the country.

Iran PressMiddle East: "During his upcoming visit to the United States, Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kazimi should discuss the Iraqi parliament's decision regarding US troops to withdraw from the country," said Mohammad Karim, a representative of the Fatah Alliance in the Iraqi parliament.

He added: "Al-Kazimi's message to the White House is that Iraq is not a battlefield for international and regional conflicts."

The Iraqi people have long stated their opposition to the continuous presence of US forces in their country.

On January 5, 2020, members of the Iraqi parliament approved a plan to expel US troops from Iraq.
