The commander of the Popular Mobilization Unit in Iraq's Diyala province said the third phase of Operation 'Victory for Iraqi Heroes' would continue until the remnants of the ISIS terrorist group in eastern and northern Iraq are destroyed.

Iran Press/Middle East: Talib al-Musawi said that Iraq's Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) or Hashd al-Shaabi on Monday morning, with the participation of security forces and the support of the army fighter jets, launched the third phase of the Iraqi heroes' victory operation to destroy ISIS and secure the eastern regions of Salah al-Din, western Diyala and southwestern Kirkuk.

The commander of the Popular Mobilization Unit (PMU)in Diyala province added that the operation is carried out with the participation of seven brigades of the PMU, the Commando Regiment, the Iraqi Air Force, the army and the police.

In recent months, attacks by the ISIS terrorist group have increased, especially in the areas between the provinces of Kirkuk, Salah al-Din and Diyala known as the "Death Triangle".

The popular mobilization, which was established in 2014 with the fatwa of Ayatollah Sistani, the supreme authority of the Iraqi Shiites, which has played a key role in defeating ISIS terrorism in Iraq and is now at the forefront of the fight against ISIS survivors alongside the country's security forces.
