Iraq urges safegaurding JCPOA

Iraq's permanent representative to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) stressed Iraq's support for the JCPOA and UN Security Council's Resolution 2231.

Iran Press/Middle East: Bakr Fattah Hussein stated in a statement on Wednesday night that Iraq supports the continuation of the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action UN Security Council Resolution 2231.

The Permanent Representative of Iraq to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), while supporting the efforts of the JCPOA member states to maintain this international agreement, described the Comprehensive Joint Action Plan as an achievement of the international community.

US President Donald Trump unilaterally withdrew from the international agreement on Tuesday, May 8, 2018, in violation of Washington's commitments under the UN Security Council, and announced the return of nuclear sanctions.

Trump's move has drawn widespread domestic and international condemnation.
