Iran, Iraq to boost economic cooperation

Iran's Counsel General in Erbil in the Kurdistan Region in northern Iraq announced the improvement of economic cooperation and transactions between the two countries.

Iran PressMiddle East: Nosratollah Rashnoudi on Monday in a joint committee meeting of the governors of the border city of Sardasht in North-Western Iran, Qalat Dizah border county, Iraqi province of Sulaymaniyah in Killeh border market place, called for the efforts of local authorities to remove obstacles on the path of the economic mutual activities.

The governor of Sardasht Aqsa Nakhshi pour also referred to the economic capacities of Killeh border market place saying the increasing working hours, setting up an exchange office and a bank, as well as setting up a standard office in the border marketplace of Killeh could pave the way for more trade relations between Iran and Iraq.

The governor of Qalat Dizah and a group of Iraqi officials announced their readiness to establish any kind of trade and economic interaction with Iran and supported the formation of specialized economic committees in the region to remove obstacles to trade cooperation.

Killeh border, 17 km from the border town of Sardasht, in the south of the province of West Azarbaijan (northwestern Iran), is the closest border to the cities of the Iraqi Kurdistan region, such as Rania and Qalat Dizah.
