Syrian President Bashar al-Assad issued a decree on Thursday designates Hussein Arnous as the new Prime Minister and dismissing Imad Khamis from the post he had held since 2016, state media said.

Iran Press/Middle East: Assad designated Hussein Arnous as Khamis' replacement. State media did not give a reason for the sudden move.

Arnous was Syria's Water Resources Minister before being designated as the new Prime Minister.

According to the decree, Hussein Arnous is designated with the missions of Prime Minister in addition to his missions.
