Tehran (IP) - The head of the Literacy Movement Organization of Iran said that in 2021 it can be confidently stated that the literacy rate in the age group 10 to 49 has reached 96.6%.

Iran Press/Iran News: Shapoor Mohammadzadeh, the head of the Literacy Movement Organization of Iran, said: "In 1979, the literacy movement was established by the order of Imam Khomeini (RA) with the slogan "Let's educate all of Iran" and had many achievements."

Mohammadzadeh stated: "Before the revolution, in the age group of 10 to 49 years, according to the census of 1977, more than 51% of the people were illiterate and 48.8% were literate."

He added: "In the last four decades, with the efforts made and according to the last census of 2017, the literacy rate reached 94.7 percent, and in 2021, it can be confidently announced that the literacy rate in the age group of 10 to 49 years has been reached 96.6%."
