(IP) - Delegations from Turkey, Russia, Iran, and Syria commenced negotiations on the first day of the 21st Astana Summit in Astana the capital city of Kazakhstan, focused on advancing efforts towards a political settlement in Syria.

Iran Press/Iran news: The Turkish delegation, led by Deputy Foreign Minister Ahmed Yildiz, held bilateral meetings with their Russian and UN counterparts.

These discussions covered a range of critical issues, including the evolving regional landscape surrounding Syria, the pursuit of a comprehensive solution to the conflict, the dire humanitarian situation, and the need to mobilize international support for Syria's reconstruction.

Russia's Special Representative for Syria, Alexander Lavrentiev, headed the Moscow delegation, while Ali Asghar Khaji, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Europe and US Affairs, led the Tehran delegation. The Damascus delegation was represented by Deputy Foreign Minister Bassam al-Sabbagh.

Observers from Jordan, Iraq, and Lebanon also attended the summit, demonstrating the broader regional interest in finding a sustainable resolution to the Syrian crisis.

These talks mark a renewed commitment by key international players to bring about peace and stability in Syria.
