Tehran (IP) - The spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran rejected the joint statement of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council and Russia regarding the three Iranian islands of Bu Musa, Greater and Lesser Tunbs, and said that the three islands belong to Iran forever.

Iran PressIran news: On Monday, Moscow hosted a strategic dialogue meeting between Russia and the countries of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council with the presence of the Foreign Minister of Oman and the Secretary General of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council.

After the meeting, the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council and Russia issued a joint statement; In part of which, repeated claims regarding the three Iranian islands were raised once again.

Nasser Kanaani, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran, stated that issuing such statements is against the cordial relations between Iran and its neighbors.

Kanaani added that the Islamic Republic of Iran considers the development and stability of the region to be the collective responsibility of the countries of the region by emphasizing the continuance of the policy of good neighborliness and mutual respect.

It should be noted that international authoritative documents prove that the three islands of Bu Musa, Greater and Lesser Tunbs in the Persian Gulf belong to Iran; For example, in the map of the British Navy in 1881, the map of the British Ministry of Maritime Affairs in 1863, and the map of Iran prepared by the British War Department in 1886, these islands are colored in the color of the land of Iran, which are examples of International documents available and shows Iran's sovereignty over these islands.
