Iran Press/ Asia: The website of the Japan Times wrote on Saturday, "Toshimitsu Motegi" is scheduled to meet and hod talks with Ebrahim Raisi, President and Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, and Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, the nominee for the post of Minister of Foreign Affairs, who is now the Senior Assistant to the Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly.
On the eve of his visit to Iran, Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi called Tehran-Tokyo relations friendly, long-standing and unchangeable.
The Iranian embassy in Japan had previously tweeted that Motegi's visit to Tehran on the eve of the formation of a new administration could open a new chapter in deepening and expanding bilateral relations.
The Iranian embassy tweeted: "This trip could be a new chapter for close bilateral consultations on important regional and international issues. It is hoped that this trip will provide an exchange of views on issues of mutual interest."
Earlier, Japan's NHK Television network had also stated that Motegi was expected to ask the new Iranian officials in their meetings to play a constructive role in trying to reduce tensions and stabilize the Middle East.
He is also expected to announce Japan's desire to strengthen its traditional friendship with Iran.
Motegi and Iranian officials are likely to discuss the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action as well.
The Japanese Foreign Minister, who met with senior officials in Turkey, plans to travel to several countries, such as Qatar, Iraq, and Egypt.
