Damascus (IP) - Iranian and Syrian officials met on Monday to discuss issues of mutual interest, regional and international cooperation, and a common vision in light of recent developments.

Iran PressMiddle East: Leading a high-ranking delegation, the senior Assistant to the Iranian Foreign Minister for Special Political Affairs, Ali Asghar Khaji met with the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in Damascus.

During the meeting, the Syrian President emphasized the importance of coordination in the next phase, particularly with regard to quadripartite meetings and the Astana talks.

He stressed the need to develop a joint strategy with Russia and Iran to define objectives for upcoming negotiations within a specific time frame.

Khaji affirmed Syria's vision on various files being negotiated and expressed his country's satisfaction with developments in Syrian foreign relations at the Arab level.

He acknowledged that this new stage would not have been possible without Syria's steadfastness, resilience, and sacrifices in fighting terrorism.
