Iran Press/ Iran news: Delivering a speech at a conference 'Strong, Principled, Effective Elections' in Mashhad, northeastern Iran, Esmail Khatib said that 30 simultaneous terrorist bombings in Tehran were neutralized and 28 terrorists were arrested.
"During Arbaeen occasion, they [terrorists] wanted to detonate 30 bombs simultaneously in Tehran, which was mentioned in the statement of the Intelligence Ministry. Among other things, they sought to blow up on the [Arbaeen] March route and the rest in other public places. The bombs were timed and were set to be exploded by mobile phones," he noted.
Khatib said that most of those arrested were from Takfiri and separatist terrorist groups who were trained in the region's countries.
Earlier in a statement, the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence said that the 28 terrorists arrested were the members of ISIS who had in their record activities in such areas as Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Iraq's Kurdistan Region, adding that the mechanism of their operations were consistent significantly with the Israeli methods recognized.
