Iran’s junior wrestling team delivered a strong performance at the World Junior Wrestling Championships today, with three wrestlers advancing to the semifinals in their respective weight categories.

Iran Press/West Asia: The competition, taking place in Amman, Jordan, began with intense matches in five weight divisions.

In the 48 kg category, Amir Abbas Alizadeh secured his spot in the semifinals after a series of decisive victories. Following a first-round bye, Alizadeh defeated André Huarsaya López of Peru 9-2 and then dominated Ukraine's Vladislav Kaidakov with a 6-0 win. He will face Henry Slikyan of the United States in the semifinals.

In the 80 kg category, Reza Afshar showcased his skills by defeating Omar Mamedi of North Macedonia 9-1 in the opening round. He continued his winning streak by beating Armenia’s Arshak Hovhannisyan 7-0 in the second round and Romania’s Darius Sas 9-1 in the quarterfinals. Afshar is set to compete against Amit Sherlock of the United States in the semifinals.

In the 110 kg category, Abolfazl Mohammadzadeh advanced to the semifinals with a commanding performance. After a first-round bye, he overcame Russia's Ali Bayramukov 6-4 and then dominated Canada’s Jagrob Dhinsa 10-0 in the quarterfinals. Mohammadzadeh will face Yedige Kasymbek of Kazakhstan in the next round.

The semifinals promise to be an exciting and crucial stage for these young Iranian wrestlers as they continue their quest for victory on the world stage.
