Tehran (IP) - In a firm response to a recent joint statement by France, Germany, and the United Kingdom, the Iranian Foreign Ministry emphasized the country’s unwavering commitment to defending its sovereignty and national security, as well as its efforts to ensure lasting stability in the region. The Ministry's spokesperson made it clear that Iran will not seek permission from anyone to exercise its recognized rights.

Iran PressIran news: Nasser Kanaani, the spokesperson for Iran's Foreign Ministry, addressed the statement issued by the three European nations regarding regional developments. He criticized the Western powers for their indifference to the ongoing atrocities committed by Israel, including genocide and war crimes against the defenseless people of Palestine. Kanaani pointed out that the impunity enjoyed by Israeli officials has emboldened them to commit ever more heinous crimes.

Kanaani also highlighted the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza, stating that despite the United Nations and its Security Council's failure to curb Israel’s criminal actions over the past ten months, the scale of Israel’s crimes against the Palestinian people, as well as its extraterritorial assassinations in other countries in the region, continues to expand. He expressed astonishment at the lack of any practical and effective measures from Western countries, including Germany, France, and the UK, to stop or counter these crimes.

The Iranian spokesperson condemned the European statement for its silence on Israel's international crimes and its audacious demand that the Islamic Republic of Iran refrain from taking punitive and deterrent actions against the aggressor threatening its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Kanaani asserted that such demands lack political logic, are completely contrary to the principles and norms of international law, and represent an unreasonable and excessive expectation. He argued that the statement effectively amounts to open support for the sources of international crimes and terrorism in the region, while encouraging and rewarding those responsible for genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity, and terrorism.

He further stated that if the aforementioned countries are truly seeking peace and stability in the region, they should, for once, stand up against the warmongering and adventurism of the Israeli apartheid regime. They should immediately work to halt the war against Gaza and the horrific massacre of innocent Palestinian women, children, and civilians.

Kanaani reiterated that the Islamic Republic of Iran remains steadfast in its defense of sovereignty and national security and is determined to help establish lasting stability in the region. He emphasized that Iran is resolute in its efforts to deter the real sources of insecurity and terrorism in the region and will not seek anyone's permission to exercise its recognized rights.

The spokesperson concluded by holding Western governments and the UN Security Council responsible for their inaction in the face of Israel's brutalities, and he underscored that the extensive political and military support provided by these Western powers to Israel is the primary driver of the ongoing crisis in the region. He warned that the supporters of Israel will eventually have to answer for the limitless atrocities being committed in Gaza and across West Asia.

The joint statement by the UK, Germany, and France had notably refrained from addressing Israel's aggressive actions and terrorist activities in Gaza and the wider West Asia region, instead calling on "Iran and its allies" to refrain from actions that could further escalate regional tensions.
