Jordan (IP) - The Iranian freestyle wrestling team managed to snatch four gold medals, one silver, and one bronze medal in the U-20 World Championships to become the World Champion team of 2023.

Iran PressMiddle East:  In the competitions underway in Amman, the capital of Jordan, the Iranian free-style wrestlers achieved 4 golds, one silver, and one bronze medal.

Mohammad Reza Shakeri, Mohammad-Mobin Azimi, and Abolfazl Babaloo reached the gold medals, respectively, in the 65 kg, 92 kg, and 97 kg weight categories, and Ali Rezaee won the silver medal in the 70 kg weight category while Ali Khorramdel in weight 61 kg won a bronze medal.

Amirreza Masoumi, already a world champion of seniors and youths, powerfully defeated the Russian opponent Saeed Akhmatov 11-0 to win another gold for Iranian Wrestling Team with 165 points.  

This is the third consecutive time the Iranian freestyle team has become champion in world competitions. Iranians became world champions in Ufa 2021, Sofia 2022, and Jordan 2023. 

After the Iranian team as standing first in the World, the USA team came second with 152 points, and the Indian team stood in third place with 102 points.
