Israeli media sources announced that "Shinkal Jiva," the commander of the special operations of the Israeli army in Rafah, was killed along with several of his forces in an ambush by Palestinian resistance forces.

Why it matters:

The increasing toll of the israeli forces is contrary to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's repeated claims that the military capabilities of Palestinian resistance forces in Gaza have been dismantled. Such operations indicate that Israel has not achieved its objectives.

What they're saying:

Israeli media sources acknowledged Shinkal Jiva, along with five of his forces, were caught in an ambush by Palestinian resistance forces inside a bombed building in Rafah, which led to his death and that of several others.

Hebrew website Hedashot B'Zman also reported that in a "security incident" in Gaza, at least one person was killed and two others were seriously wounded, with the condition of the injured described as "very critical."

Key points:

Israeli sources further stated that a military helicopter carrying injured soldiers of the regime landed at Soroka Hospital in the occupied territories.
