Iran Press/ Iran News: The ceremony of the National Paralympic Day was held on Sunday with the presence of more than 5,000 disabled athletes at Azadi Sports Complex in Tehran.
Also, the National Paralympic Day ceremony was held in different parts of Iran, with more than 70,000 veteran and disabled athletes participating in the event.
In an exclusive interview with Iran Press on the sidelines of the ceremony, the President of the National Olympic Committee of Iran, Mahmoud Khosravi-Vafa, praised the presence of the veteran and disabled athletes at the event and said: "The Paralympic Day as a big sports event brought athletes with impairments across the country together."
The official stated that the National Paralympic Day ceremony on the initiative of Iran has been registered in the information base of the International Paralympic Committee, adding that many other countries also hold the National Paralympic Day.
Mahmoud Khosravi-Vafa stressed efforts were needed to turn the National Paralympic Day into an international one and that Iran had cooperated with European countries to do so.
