Iran Press/ Iran news: The opening ceremony of the third China Film Week was held on Saturday evening at the Farabi Cinema Foundation in Tehran with the presence of a group of political, cultural and artistic figures and Iranian and Chinese cinematographers.
Mahdi Javadi, the CEO of the Farabi Cinema Foundation of Iran, expressed his satisfaction that the third week of Chinese films was held in Iran and was hosted by the Farabi Cinema Foundation, saying: "Chinese culture, with its antiquity and expansion, has many human and moral aspects whose spiritual roots have created deep connections between the two cultures of Iran and China."
Javadi stated that cinema is a great opportunity to expand cultural cooperation between the two countries of Iran and China and added: "The presence of Iranian cinema in Chinese film events, including the international film festival of Shanghai, Beijing, etc., and the presence of Chinese cinema in famous Iranian festivals, including Fajr Film Festival, Children and Youth Film Festival, Tehran Short Films over the past years, there have been many interactions between the two countries."
Mohammed Khazaei, Deputy Minister and Head of the Cinematic Organization of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance of Iran, also said: "Iranian and Chinese cinema have distinctive and brilliant characteristics and identifiers in the world."
Khazai added: The extensive connection between Iranian and Chinese cinema is important because there are many undiscovered capacities for expansion and development in this area that can be taken into consideration.
Chang Hua, the Chinese ambassador to Iran, also said: "Film is the art of light and shadow, a mirror of reality and a messenger of culture, and it plays an important role in learning about different civilizations."
Emphasizing that China and Iran have magnificent and ancient civilizations, the Chinese diplomat added: The theater of the Farabi Cinema Foundation is named after the Late Abbas Kiarostami, a great filmmaker who traveled to China four times to make films in the last two years of his life, and the filmmakers of China made a documentary film called "March with Abbas Kiarostami" with his presence.
The third Chinese film week continues until Wednesday (May 10th) at the Farabi Cinema Foundation with the screening of five films from the new generation of Chinese cinema.
