Iran Press/ Iran News: Amin Tarfa announced on Tuesday that the transit of goods and commodities through Iran had been projected to increase to 20 million tons in the current Iranian year with the same infrastructures.
The Director General of the Office of Commercialization and Organizational Affairs of the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development also said: The impossibility of Iranian wagons moving within the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries and the insufficient number of active locomotives to carry transit goods. It requires us to supply it both through domestic production and imports.
Tarfa pointed out that the target of attracting 20 million tons of transit goods has been communicated to the relevant agencies through the Supreme Transport Council, and based on that, plans have been made to transfer 4 million tons of cargo through the rail transport fleet.
